Week 1 - Improve Your Photography

Week 1 at DSisk Photography's Blog Series challenged me to use a higher f stop on a portrait shot and to try a landscape shot.   Here is my response to that:

Summer Fun - I Heart Faces

I haven't participated in one of these challenges in forever...but I want to start again!   It is so fun to challenge myself and discover some amazing other talented people.  So here is my image for "Summer Fun".  The best parts of summer is playing in all the open fields around us and it's even more beautiful at sunset.

Nice to Meet You...

Profile
Picture of Me, that my hubby took!
I am a stay at home momma to one rambuctious little boy, Colton, and a wife to an amazing supportive husband, Lee.  I am truly blessed and I thank God everyday for leading to the life I have.  I live in the middle of the country and wouldn’t trade that for anything.  Country living is definitely my style.  I love the free feeling of the open fields.  If you follow me on Instagram, you will see lots of photos of that!  I like to talk...a lot!  I have a personality that can be a bit larger than life at times, so I usually only let it out in small doses.

Growing up I have always had a knack to art.  I started at a young age sketching cartoons and people.   I loved my sketchbook more than anything.   Much like I do with photography, I am quite a perfectionist with sketching.  I dabbled in poetry in my tweens and early teens.  It was a coping device for my depression.   (I’ll eventually share more on that at a later point.)  In high school, I would buy tons…and I mean TONS of disposable cameras.  I loved taking picture of everything: my friends, family, pets, trees, landscapes, basically anything and everything my ADD would let me focus on!  I continued to photography with my point and shoot, but it wasn’t until I got a DSLR (after lots of begging) that I realized I could do this for real…like for real for real!  And so I ventured into DSisk Photography!

I have also had a passion for graphic design.  And I fell in love with Photoshop and Lightroom.  Something about the ability to breathe life into a photo captured me.  So I decided to use my second passion and start Shaded Studio

Random Factoids:

  • I was voted “Most Artistic” my senior year…and I was the Senior Class Vice President!  Woot Woot!
  • I love to laugh so hard that I cry and a little pee comes out!  Life is too short to focus on the negative.
  • I am addicted to Coke…the soda of course.
  • I love cooking and crafting and doing make up!
  • I would marry Bruce Willis is a second (Sorry Lee!)  I have had a crush on him since I saw Die Hard…which happens to be my favorite movie.
  • I love listening to music and when no one is home, I will turn it up, and do a little dance, “Risky Business” style.

Mr. Money Maker

Well my son is getting smarter and smarter everyday. I really can't believe he is all ready two...and I'm 26! Ahh! Oh well...I think I'm like a fine wine....better with age. I was cooking our dinner this evening and I come into our living room to stumble on Colton slipping coins into his piggy bank...but no clue where he got them from. Well I found out a couple second later as he walked by me, on his tippy toes and reached to grab coins out of our change holder by the door. Kid knows all ready how to make money the smart way - Take it from your parents!
